Individual therapy can be fun and rewarding. It can also be aplace to heal, a place to learn,be heard etc. Individual therapy is just you and the psychologist with no third party.
A psychologist can not discuss anything said or talked about in the session without your permission unless you pose a threat to yourself or a minor under the age of 16.
Is everything i say confidential?
Yes absolutly, everything you say is kept in strict confidence we are not able to discuss your issues with friends family or any related party. Should you want your issues discussed with loved ones you will have to sign a confidentiality waver.
How often do i need to see a psychologist
This varies greatly and really is a case by case answer, it is not unusual for someone in extreme distress to see a therapist twice a week for the first few weeks. Normally a person will go every week for the first few sessions then drop back to every second week and so on and so on.
Can i see my therapist after i finish therapy
It is normal to see your therapist irregularly after therapy has completed. However psychologists are not allowed by law to see you outside the therapy rooms or create a friendship after therapy. Should you want to be friends after therapy a psychologist has to wait a minimum of two years and also get permission for the friendship from his peers and regulatory boards. The therapist may really like you as a person however they are not permitted by law to be your friend.
